GPII Availability in US?

Does anyone know of a good mail order source for GPII in the US?  I
currently have had a copy on order with NECX ($39.95) for 2 months, but
they're still saying they don't have an estimated shipping date yet.
Does the US get the game July 23 or when?  No one seems to know.  Big
chains like CompUSA, MicroCenter, etc., don't even have info yet.  Those
of us in the 'States will be the last to race GPII, that's for sure.

Hmmm.... wonder what shipping and handling from the UK or S. Africa (or
anywhere an English version would be
         available) would cost?  =)

I'm not sure where to exactly buy it from either. All the stores that
I talked to have a release date of July 23rd. I have seen none later
than this, but you never know considering MP/SH reliability in
confirming dates.

Our official release date is July 23rd worldwide. Meaning you can go
in the store on July 23rd and walk out wih a copy in your hands. We
started shipping from our warehouse yesterday. All stores who get
their stuff via express delivery or next day should have the game for
sure on July 23rd. Is this enough confirmation for you ? :)

It is cool to have you here with information as opposed to the misinformation
we are used to. Are you allowing USA stores to sell before the 23rd if they
receive ther shipments?

Gabriel,
Thank you sincerely for your input...  however, I've spoken to the store
managers of 7 individual stores of three major chains (Electronics
Boutique, CompUSA, Egghead) in the New York area, and not a SINGLE ONE
of them has received a single box of GP2, nor do they have ANY
information regarding when they might get one ( this is not exactly
true, an EB manager did say he expected  it sometime this week -- one
manager had never heard of it ?!!) Even by the normally confused
commumications of this business I have difficulty believing I will be
able to "walk-out-with-a-copy-in-my-hands".
Do you still feel certain?  Can you tell me, specifically, where I may
go to pick one up tomorrow?
I'd really appreciate your comments
Thanks

I think there is some serious communication problem between
Microprose and the stores in USA.

Eggheads in Portland, OR don't have a ***y clue!

Seems someone lied to Gabriel too. :)  Called all the "local" stores
(anywhere within a 150 mile radius of my home) <G>  and not ONE of
them had a copy I could walk out of the store with either.  (In PA)  2
stores said _hopefully_ Monday the 29th.   The others didn't know it
had been released yet. :(
Well at least we know it is finished...sorta. <G>

Not quite.  Compusa/Egghead/et al don't have it yet, but here in the
Detroit area Best Buy does.

Ok, so i got some answers and they most likely will not satisfy your
inquiries. As I suspected, I was told that some chains did not pick up
their orders right away, others did, some shipments made it to some
areas faster than other areas due to the shipping method they used
etc.

Hopefully by now, you all have a copy. if not, You can always order it
direct from our sales line at 800-695-GAME.

btw, this is probably the fastest response I got from sales today in a
long time ;)

Hi P.B. I passed along the information that I got from sales here. I
have no idea why some stores have not heard about the release. I will
make sure to print your message and take it over to the sales people
and ask for some answers. Will post again soon.

Thanks for the information.  SH/MP has been taking some heat here as
of late, and at least we know that the retail chains can draw some of
the criticism for not being "responsive" (that word has been overused
in r.a.s.).  And I'm sure you're not going to see them showing up and
posting messages! ;)

You had a great deal for GP2 - half off for GP2 if I bought GPM...not
bad, and I received GP2 on time as promised!

Thanks for participating in here, Gabriel.

Kyle,
My pleasure! I wish I had more time on my hands to go through more
messages here. Have a good weekend and I'll be back on-line next week.
