It's a hoax, like the Good Times and the PKzip 3.0 scare.

Oh, no! I just read this post with "Deeyenda" in the subject
field...though he meant well in warning us not to read posts
containing this term in the subject field, I couldn't help it, I had
to read it!  He wanted us to heed the warning!

Oh, G*d, I suddenly feel cold and clammy...feel ill...there's a rash
growing on my fingers...I think I have Deeyendaitis....

You can get a virus through e-mail attachements (i.e. *.exe files,
Word and Excel macro viruses, etc..).

No, it's a hoax, as was the "good times" virus warning last year.  For
details, see the Department of Energy CIAC announcement at

In Word, you can only get viruses from Word Documents with the
extension ".doc."  Text files with the extension ".txt" are okay.
M***- never accept a document file from anyone.  If it's really
important, ask for a text file version of it instead.

Hopefully, you're kidding. The "Penpal Greetings" e-mail virus is a
hoax also.
