I am racing online and Nascar 2003 freezes after about 10 or 15
minutes in a race. I have turned off the screen saver and power
optins. But it doesn't seem to help. I was told that I need to turn
off windows update. Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks.

Format your hard drive, and install Linux, or buy a Mac. :)

Spend a tenner on a BBC Micro. Hey, it runs Revs... ;-)

Is it only with N2K3?
If not it could be heat related, is your CPU / GPU fans OK?

You can right click on the task scheduler (near the clock on the right of
the task bar) and select "Pause Task Scheduler" before you do any online
racing. Alternatively, go into the task scheduler and remove/disable the
critical update notification to stop it from ever happening again.

Andrew.

I have XP and it is only freezing online. I have no windows update on
the control panel. I do have Norton antivirus and live update on plus
the automatic critical updates from Windows. I am not sure if these
are my problems nor do I know how to turn off the critical update.

The critical update task is run via the task scheduler, so pausing the task
scheduler should inhibit any periodic activity that will more than likely
use your internet connection, and therefore reduce your bandwidth.
