Project: Grand Prix World 2001 Update

Just to fill in a bit of background on this as F1 Managers are oft the
unmentioned area here in rec.autos.simulators, but we have seen many games
that although they have some flaws and idiosyncrasies have offered many
hours of playing time following the dream of running an F1 team.

Grand Prix World was released last year by Hasbro this time around to
compliment Grand Prix 3 in much the same way as its spiritual ancestors
Grand Prix Manager and Grand Prix Manager 2 did with Grand Prix 1 and 2. As
with the previous GPM series the game was produced by Edward Grabowski
Communications Ltd.

Grand Prix World was released with teams and drivers from the 1998 Formula 1
Season and as such featured no tobacco/*** sponsorships on the cars
because of the FIA licensing rules for computer games. We at F1 Sims after
having much experience with editing and producing Grand Prix Manager 2 (with
our staff including Juan Molina and Chris Silles who ran the most
comprehensive GPM2 site on the internet and Danilo Schoeneberg aka DJ
ByteDisaster who produced the GPM2 Editor) produced a beta version of a 2000
season update for the game.

We could not continue to complete the project due to our own commitments so
we merged with the GPWorld 2001 produced run by Jork Wierdsma to make sure
we could produce a quality update for the 2001 season, even though it is
getting quite late in the year the ground work of this project will make it
far easier to produce future updates. If you want to provide some ideas or
support to get involved with the project the website is hosted at
http://www.racesimcentral.net/ which contains a forum at which you can
contribute your suggestions on the patch which is detailed on the webpages.

We are also looking for graphics specialists to paint general 2001 cars and
updates for Grand Prix World, F1 Manager and Grand Prix Manager 2, so if you
like knocking up liveries in your spare time drop us an email. If you are
looking for somewhere to host your files and downloads drop us a line also
as we have a dedicated Downloads site with extensive worldwide mirrors(and
no queue system ;) ) at http://www.racesimcentral.net/ .
