Has anyone tried this controller with racing games? Saw one in Best Buy for
around $30. It looks similar to a controller used to control a remote control
car with a mini-wheel mounted on top and an analog trigger to control
gas/brake.
Any comments?

If you are talking about the PC version, I'd probably recommend the T2
wheel/pedal combo that can be had at CompUSA for something like $60 after
rebate. I use my flightsim setup of CH F16 Combatstick and Pro Pedals. I
acutally generally prefer driving with the stick more than the GP1 steering
wheel I had (and have again since it is free after rebate).
I use one with my laptop. It works great for N2, GP2, etc. and it fits
easily in my computer bag.

great controller...but you really have to use automatic transmission in your
driving games (there's no way to shift easily).
