Funny, My copy came in the same size big box that NR1,2,3,99,&4 came in...
Even though I was hoping for the small box (I save 'em boxes nowadays so
when I move...  each box has what goes in it...  except my NR2, it has my
NR1 stuff in it too.  Yep the manual was small.  No quickkey cards either...
woa saved a buck or 2... LOL  for each 100 copies they sold...  D'oh  Terry
Bradshaw is proud of them Im sure.

It is the sound of your tries scrubbing on the pavement
(minimize(relative volume) this while still being fast).

Really go into a corner hard and then you will hear the squealing of the
tires skidding on the pavement (always a no no).

Go drive on a mountain road, and lower your window. Listen to your tires
when you go around corners. Deja vue.

That would be the awful heavy metal song that plays after a race. =)

I'm kidding, but it would sure be nice to turn that off.  Nothing in
the in-game options so I guess I'll poke through some .ini's in the
morning....

That's not it either. As I said already, I only here it when in a race so it
is related to the other cars on the track. Anyway, with those helmets and
fire suits covering their ears I doubt Nascar racers actually hear the tires
on the road.

Heh, yea...Nascar fans have poor taste in music, at least according to
Papy/Sierra. :-)

I don't know, but don't forget you get much more inputs in a real car,
and the new tire sounds are a tremendous help in knowing what the car
is doing imho

Well, I'd say that is according to
Papy/Sierra/Fox/NBC/TNT/ESPN/Speedvision (missing anyone) and the
bands they usually book before the race.  And the music blaring out of
people's cars/motorhomes at the track.  Apparently not only is it a
stereotype that NASCAR fans are 40 year olds with mullets who drink
cheap beer and listen top-40 country and heavy metal, but it's the
image the sport is trying to project.

Then again my favorite band is Can, so I shouldn't really talk.

Sounds decent here, if a little too soft & wimpy. ;-)  Wish we could
turn it up. <g>

Holger rules. =)

I was sad when the Can Solo Projects tour came through the states a
few years ago because none of the promoters in Pittsburgh could afford
to bring them here.  Now that Michael Karoli has died (shortly before
George Harrison, too, what a double shot that was), I s'pose it will
probably be awhile until I get to see any of them.  I'm only 24 so I
wasn't alive when they still played shows together.

No, but then they can actually feel the tire interaction with the
pavement (front and back). We have to live with sound feedback.

Oh yeah, but we know your kind. You're probably 40 years old, wears a
mullet, and drinks cheap beer. :)

Definetly sounds like wind to me, because when I go into corners too hot
(Say at Bristol) I can hear tire squeel on top of that noise. I definetly
think it is supposed to be wind or the 'low roar' would shift to the squeel
when cornering and it doesn't do that. Maybe it was tires in Heat, but if it
is supposed to be tires in 2002 then they need to 1) turn it off when the
tires are screaming at you for taking a corner too hot, they can't
moan/scrub and screetch at the same time and 2) turn it off when you lift
off the gas after being spun at Coca Cola and are flying across the grass
backwards on the grass, I wouldn't think tire moan/scrub would occur
skimming across grass with no power being applied to them...

It's not the tire sounds. I like the tire tie sounds when going into the
corners. They obvioulsy got the sound idea for tires from EA's F12001. I'm
thinking it's wind turbulence becauase I only hear it when in a race.
