Not that I know anything about the trackfiles in S.O.S., or GPL for that
matter :), I am pretty sure that you have to believe in Santa Claus for this
to happen.

The reason track-converting from NASCARxx to GPL works is that both are Papy
titles and are build up around the same database, you don't need to change
anything on the geography.

It would still be easier to find a map of the old tracks and build the tracks
from scratch for GPL. Well, maybe I should say less difficult.

The dream of this happening is 100% impossible to simply "convert" tracks
between two development groups who work with very different open-source
code, game engines, track file architecture, etc..

Unless you recreate the track from scratch in GPL from the data you have in
SOS.

Has anyone looked at the track formats used for Spirit of Speed and whether
they could be converted to work with GPL. There are several impressive
tracks Avus, Brooklands, Monza which with a good physics model would be
great fun. A track converter like we have from Nascar to GPL would keep the
manufacturers happy as you would need the CD but lead to a great multiplayer
game.
Maybe Broadsword could release it themselves.
