I'll also mail you this in case you won't receive this message, but
Rally X runs very smooth on my 866 gf2 in 1280res 32bit.

Funny you say that....

My system specs:
Athlon 1.33ghz 266fsb
384mb PC133 Ram
64 mb GF2 PRO.
MS FFB-wheel  (no feedback in the demo tho)

*And* I'm still having probs in most corners - the whole thing is
"stuttering" like hell.

Best settings for me is 800x600x16, Mipmap at 0.00, Farplane at 600, no
boxes checked.

Yes, fun factor is high - but the rest is pretty lame - Imho.

I just gave it another try again, the problem is that there is a MAJOR
deadzone, and if you go over the deadzone, the control overreact
majorly. Looks like this game, or the demo at least, was made for
digital devices, not analogue devices.
With the keyboard the car is much more controllable, but driving with
a keyboard is silly :)

I just did some testing, trying to get rid of the deadzone with CTFJ.
Well.. I got rid of the deadzone, but unfortunately it ain't the cause
of the problem. No matter what amount of 'gain' I tried in CTFJ, the
car remains uncontrolable.
Even in 1st gear I'm having an extremely hard time trying to keep the
car on the road. When I enter a corner, I have to steer extremely
carefull or the car will go into a spin. The problem gets worse when I
try to steer straight again after the corner, because the car
immediately snaps to the other side, no matter at what speed I drive
or the amount of my steering input.
Hard to describe it for me, but it feels like I'm totally drunk while
driving the car.
Enough time spend on this crap, time to delete.

Cant really explain the difference. I don't wan't to give the wrong
impression. The demo is not liquid smooth on my system but it is acceptable
to the point of being playable.

My PC spec is similar and I have a very low fps. A waste of electrons I
reckon.

What kind of wheel do you use Doug?

And does it sort of "stutter" when you turn? (the screen that is)

ED
I have the MSFF gameport version (not USB) wheel and yes , I do get a
slight stutter when turning fast. The driving view  you use also makes a
difference. If I use either of the 2***pit views then it stutters more. I
drive using the hood cam and that one seems the smoothest.

Thank you Alex :))
No, seriously, it's not 'hard' to control, it's impossible to control.
The problem seems to be wheel-dependent then.. I have a LWFF (older
type) as does Jan I believe, who also experiences the same problems.
Really, control in all other racing sims is as it should be, except in
this demo.

Getting old.. jeez!

I'd admit it's difficult and if your not paying attention it will to an
ultra exaggerated pendulum to and throw you in a ditch because of the large
deadzone, and then once your out of the deadzone, extreme responsiveness.
Just have to be smooth and not slide the car too much :)

Thanks,
Alex

If you think about the view you get while driving a real car isn't the hood
view ,where all you see is the hood of the car in front of you, the most
realistic one? I dont want to see a wheel and another pair of hands in front
of me.

And before you ask---no I don't drive GPL in F10 view.
