Bob,

I was going to buy it for my birthday, but I saw that it required 32meg of RAM
and didn't buy it because I only have 16.

The frame rate for that game is low on my P100 with Pure3D !

I just bought it today, and its not as much fun as it looks on the box.
It's kind of choppy sometimes on my P200. I have 48 megs of ram. I
haven't tried the multiplayer yet, but it looks fun.

I`ve got it. Everything I read says it needs 32megs of ram, but it
runs fine on my P166 with 16 megs. (Only crashed once.) The idea of
driving around SimCity2000 cities is novel, and moderately enjoyable.
If you played SimCity, and have cities saved, I would recommend it.
Only playing with the keyboard makes it hard for me to really judge
the driving model, but it seems quite good.

Only thing is it seems very arcadey ALA Twisted Metal. Mind you, the
fun of blowing cars to piece with missiles is quite nice:)

Streets of SimCity....any good?

I picked Streets of Sim City (rip-off of Interstate 76 with 1 /100 the
performance of it) the other day.  With a P200mmx (64 meg)  Diamond Viper
and a Monster 3d the game runs like a dog!  I'm talking about a virtual
slideshow whenever another car comes into the scene.  With more than 3 cars
in a race or battle, I'm getting about 2-3 frames per second and that's no
exaggeration! It's supposed to be optimized for 3dfz, Glide and
all....What a joke! Looks like ***too. About the only thing that looks
anything like a 3dfx game are the lousy looking trees (which you can drive
right through!)  Nothing in this game like a driving sim at all.  Superwide
turns until you press shift key and then you do a 90.  Disgraceful.

System requirements are a P-166 and 32 megs ram  If anyone tries this on a
P-300, let me know what performance your getting.  I can't imagine it
running decently on anything.

The slowest game I have ever played in recent memory!  I could get past the
cheesy and washed out graphics if it had "playability" but you'll grind to
an unbelievable slowdown at the first sign of another car. Compared to SOS,
Interstate 76 looks like your getting 100 fps.  Back of the box looks great
but nothing like the game.

What a dog....Save your money because I don't think any kind of patch will
ever save his turkey!   You should be ashamed of yourself Maxis &
Electronic Arts!    Joe B. (remove NOSPAM if replying via E mail))
