have never seen anything install itself wrong, or if it did install itself
wrong once it did it every time. A computer is not a random device, why
would reinstalling produce any different results than what I got the first
time?
Why would the game not work properly on your PC?
Can you or anyone else just tell me for certain whether you see a reference
lap displayed, with an asterisk next to it, when you go into the telemetry
tool? Not your own laps, but the reference laps that come with the game. I
not only get no such thing, but if I go to a brand new track and pull up the
telemetry tool, instead of seeing the reference lap for the new track I see
the laps from the last track at which I recorded a lap. That is just not
right.
Er..no reference laps come with the game......You'll have to make your own -
no big deal.
If you go into the telemetry without even going out on the track, you'll see
your telemetry from the last track you drove. Again, no big deal since I've
no idea why you'd want to go into the telemetry without having even driven.
Storm in a tea cup here......
As for your second statement, IF the game came with reference laps I would
find it very useful to be able to look at them before trying a new track. I
doubt that any F1 driver just goes out on a track without doing his homework
first.
I guess the scientific explanation is shit happens. :)
While I tend to agree that an experienced user with a well tuned machine
should expect the same problems even after a re-install; why not try just
for the hell of it? If it works just chalk one up for shit happens.

Hm, not be a shithead, but F12k2 ran well on my system and F1C was
causing CTD's and blue screens when I first installed it. The problem
actually was my system, so YMMV.
In my case I actually had to disable most every TSR via msconfig where
I discovered some adware app had been running. Didn't interfere with
any other games strangely enough.

You seriously found the reference laps in 2002 useful?
