This isn't a "bug", this is a GLARING error, obvious to anyone who
took the time to even test the wet weather. I noticed this within
three corners of turning the rain effects on, so what kind of testing
was done on this product? Add to that all the other wierd things we're
seeing and it's obvious that not a whole lot of effective testing was
done - either that or it's the old "What the heck, just get it out in
time for Christmas" syndrome.

What is amazing is when people commented on the uncompetitive AI (not
the behaviour, just the cornering and straightline speeds) and we were
asked what was wrong with them and how we would like them. Hello?!?!?!
Surely that is the one thing you should be absolutely clear on from
the outset, since it defines the speed and grip of the player's car to
a large extent. Things like that reinforce in my mind that the AI was
never intended as a key part of this product, or at best it was
hobbled by time contraints.

Cheers!

Testing?  Well, they're just finishing up the alpha phase and
expect to begin beta testing in earnest in the next week or so.  :(

I'm not too happy when a publisher misses fairly obvious bugs and
has to patch them shortly after shipping, but this practice of a
premeditated beta test of the first release on the general public is
pretty poor.  Yes, they're offering free patches.  Whoopie.  For us on
RAS, that's fine, just a few hours DL time.  For the other 60, 70, 80%
percent of the general public that buy the program who don't have net
access and don't have access to the patch (or even information that it
is available), what good does it do them?  Will MS inform registered
users (via snail mail) that the patch is available and offer to snail
mail it to them?  <guffaw>

Everything about CPR about seems to be a mind-boggling mix of the
greatest hopes and worst fears of sim racers...

Will I buy it?  Probably.  Since I've gotten my control problems
worked out, it's a pretty interesting effort ("promising" is the word
that keeps popping up), in spite of the framerate and AI problems
(BTW, grammar pet peeve #312, these are "problems", not "issues",
people! ;).  I need something to keep me occupied until GPL or Red
Baron 2 come out, and big Bill needs the bucks to pay the mortgage on
his $50 gazzilion mansion...  ;)

Before you send me UCE, I know what you're thinking...  Did he complain
to five or six postmasters last month?  Now, you must ask yourself one
question: "Do I feel lucky?"  Well, do you, punk?

First of all, just so you know, There is more people on the internet
than just the peopls in RAS.. Second, where the heck did you get even
60% of gamers don't have net access.. don't know where you're pulling
your facts from.. well I DO know, but there's kids that read this
newsgroup.

Well, If your gonna have wet weather in the sym, it had better be
right!  I would rather they leave it out if they can't implement it
realisticly.  I will wait for GP3 (hopefully), and guess that when Geoff
Crammond includes the wet stuff, it will be right!

GP2 still top of the syms......by a mile.

I take it you mean apart from Netscape 4 crashing about every other
time that Javascript is executed? For that reason Netscape was
"executed" from my PCs and IE4 installed. I'll maybe try again once
the bugs are fixed...

The spray thrown up by the wheels of cars ahead is diabolical....looks
like grey gravel rather than moisture!!  Same goes for the raindrops,
which give the impression of grey sticks falling out of the sky!
The spray/rain effects in GP1 were/are far superior....and look how old
THAT sim is!!
