Hey Doug. Just a guess.  A number of people have complained about
problems with Liveware, particularly the updated versions. Try
uninstalling everything for the soundcard except basic drivers.

When I installed the second card, it froze during the registration process
before I even had a chance to install the Liveware.  I did install the
drivers, but hadn't gotten around to the Liveware, and was typing the
registration info when it froze...
