Well, the first installment isn't modern, per se.  The user controlled
planes are the F-100, A-4, F-104, and F-4.  Unfortunately it does not
currently allow the user to fly the russian planes, altho I believe
that is going to be added via a patch.  The weapons technology is
modelled very well as I said before, guided missiles very rarely if
ever hit their targets so most dogfights end up being the typical low
altitude turning gun battles.  A lot of fun, and developed by the guy
who did EAW.

By "modern-era" I meant jets, but to parse it more clearly, it suppose it
should have to do with UHF radar and guided missiles.  The Phantom neatly
straddled the transition...even if they did have to retrofit guns after
Randy Cunningham and others complained.
