Howdy, I' ten races into a season and I'm in eighth place. Gordon is in
first. My question is: I've got seven poles, five wins, and I know I've
led the most laps. I have 60 bonus points. Gordon has no wins, no poles
and 75 bonus points. What gives? Shouldn't I have more points with more
poles and wins and laps led? How are bonus points allotted?

Thanks, RB

You receive 5 bonus points for leading a lap and 5 bonus points for leading
the most laps. Sounds like Gordon led in nearly every race and picked up
the bonus for most laps led in most of the races. I could be wrong, I'd say
he must've led more laps than you did overall.

Consistency is the key to winning the championship. In '95, Gordon won a
lot more races than teammate Labonte, but Labonte won the championship by
finishing nearly every race.

If you lead one lap in a race you receive 5 bonus points. Whomever leads the
most laps receives an additional 5. There are no bonus points for winning the
pole.

Uh, Dave, that was in '96. Jeffy was the champ in '95. <VBG>
