Touch mine, remember, and you're a dead man ;-))))))
Btw, while I'm very cooperative when it comes to practical purposes like
being able to see the numbers properly when approaching a car from behind,
or when someone tells me to use lighter colours because my car is difficult
to see against dark track surfaces, IMHO things go too far when people start
telling you to paint your car with a sponsor's logo or to put Decals on it
just because Nascars nowadays look like this. The paint I put on the car has
nothing to do with the quality of the races I will give someone, and this is
a racing sim and not a car painting sim.
I seek realism in the driving and will give anyone the best and most
realistic racing I'm capable of, and will permanently continue to improve
this aspect, but I think we can be a little forgiving in terms of what
everyone perceives as being a good looking car or what he thinks symbolizes
his own approach to racing best in terms of how he paints his car.

I agree with what you say, Achim, just for the record, I did not mind one
bit "remaking" my skin (changed from 305 to 59)
59 was the first year of production of the mini so I kept a number with
"meaning" for me.
Besides, the 3 digit number was just a pain to line up on the sides nicely
anyway. I *think* I followed the right "rules" for NASCAR stickering, and
used the packs of contingency stickers because they looked a lot better
than the ones I had anyway (had to find an image converter to get them out
of psp format but no biggy).
I like painting car skins (or more precisely, stickering up the excellent
2003 pontiac template I downloaded) so I enjoyed the excercise.
Now I have done Badtz Maru, I have a compulsion to create the Hello Kitty
Winston Cup team :o)
Anyone want a nice pink n white car painting up?
(worth a shot!)
cheers

It has EVERYTHING in the world to do with how well the guy races. :)
And considering your're in a 3-digit numbered car, your racing is pretty
decent, although I can tell that you're not yet quite accustomed to the
"let the #43 car pass you on every lap" rule.
I don't care if they put logos/decals on their car or not. I would
simply like to see the numbers visible and in the right places.
Forgiving!? Never! Like "apologizing", it's a sign of weakness. :)

Well, if he uses that hyperspeed varnish they've been advertising recently,
you know the one that's so sleek that your top speed increases by 50mph,
that indeed is not good sportsmanship. OTOH, if he puts enough decals on,
the additional weight will slow him down so much to equilibrate the effect
of the hyperspeed varnish ;-)
Thank you Sir.
I've given up on letting someone pass, since recently the pacecar crushed me
to pieces when I tried to let it pass <g>
Nope, with the decals, that wasn't you. And your idea to put numbers on the
car is actually sensationally good. I've immediately put numbers on my car
after I understood the beauty of the concept. AAMOF, I was going to chose
either 1, 2 or 8, but then I couldn't make up my mind as to which one to
chose, and put them all on. Better one number too many than one too few,
right?
<g>
You know, I was on purpose avoiding the use of foreign words like 'tolerate'
or similar effeminate stuff ;-)

Car #99 here.
Feel free to do anything you like to my car. I just painted it as I did to
give an honest (and hopefully funny) indication of my soon to be obvious
"rookie" status here in RASCAR.
My plan was to show up during practice sessions, drive a few laps and then
start at the back of the grid. Then I would see if I could even race with
any of the tailenders. If not. . . well nothing ventured . . . As long
as I stayed out of the way while being lapped by the leaders I would cause
no harm. Just hold my line, close my eyes and pray. :O)
But then came race day last weekend and I got as far as finding the epickett
server listed on my screen. . . and then I chickened out.
I'd like a place to race against people with the same attitudes found here;
good clean racing with sportsmanship prevailing (and the odd needle after
the race) but I don't want to cause any problems on the track. It must be a
generational thing (I'm older the most here) but I'd be more embarassed by
making a mistake that took someone else out then he (she) would be angry
for my doing so.
I'll keep practicing against the AI during the week on the tracks to be used
the following weekend and if I get a sudden burst of confidance I just might
show up. Look for me in you mirror, but back . . . way back.
elrikk (Mike Kay)
All this just for a painted number on the side of the cars! ;-)
I've asked since N2 to have *letters* in the car's number, so somebody could
have #33a or #104b.
