There is a faq we use at the tptcc website that 'might' help.  We have
started using the DTM mod for Nascar Heat and had plenty of users who had
never used Heat or non-self-installing mods before.  It may not have the
answer but it should cover a few bases for you.  Once you have Nascar Heat
properly installed on the default paths, then most of the mods and tracks
are one click installes.(not DTM yet, however)
use the tptcc link at
theuspits.com

Word on the NASCAR Heat forum is that some people have had trouble
downloading the mod files with Netscape, but with IE the downloads
have worked fine.

The desktop shortcut points to a batch file -- you can bypass the
batch file by doing the following:

1) Make a copy of your CTS shortcut on your desktop (just copy the
desktop shortcut to your desktop -- it will appear as "Copy of CTS" or
such).

2) Right-click on the new CTS shortcut and select "Properties."

3) Edit the shortcut destination to read as follows (make sure it
matches the path and executable for whatever it says in YOUR existing
CTS mod):

"C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\NASCAR Heat\NASCAR Heat.exe"
-mod:SPIRITofHeat -noautoplay

OR:

"C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\NASCAR Heat\NHeat.exe"
-mod:SPIRITofHeat -noautoplay

(Depending upon whether YOUR current CTS mod is pointing to a
"NHeat.exe" executable or a "NASCAR Heat.exe" executable.)

NOTE that the quotes MUST be retained as shown above, and that the 2
lines above should appear as one line, with a space between the end
quote and the dash( the "..exe" and the -mod:SPIRITofHeat portion).

This SHOULD get you up and running.

Aaah...  You may be onto something there.  I've been using Netscape.  I'll try IE,
and let you know how I make out......

Thanks!

That was exactly the problem.  I re-downloaded using IE, and everything installed
properly.

Great Job, BTW!  You guys do terrific work.

One final question:  Is there a No-CD patch for Nascar Heat which will allow IRL
HEAT and SOH to load/run without the CD?

Thanks!

Yes, you should be running that first and getting it squared away before
you install the mods.  The TPTCC page at theuspits.com has a file that
includes all three patches and the nocd.
Get that squared away, then install the mods.

What you still need to do is copy the Nascar Heat executable to your main
Nascar Heat directory, and also rename the "data" directory to "run" on your
HD.  Then it works, but you still need the CD.  There is a Nascar Heat NoCD
patch (I think at the Pits) which does all this, plus removes the CD
requirement from the Nascar Heat executable.
