Well I went ahead and got the Icr2-N2 track converter.  I also put the
new graphics on the track from Alex's Pit shop. And when I go to qualify
at Indy I just turn lap after lap without posting a qualifying time.
Anybody else have this problem?

Make sure in your INDY.txt file on the "qual" line it says 1 1 and you
should be fine.

To to my site and download the AI fix.  http://user.mc.net/~rustyfan  I
have included in the file a setup that will let you run in the 175-176
range with a few modifications.  My ai is also more realistic then the
other one.

You need to have the first number be a 2.  That is the problem with the
converter and Alex's text file.  They both have a 1 as the beginning
number.

Do you cut straight onto the track just after the pit exit and before turn
1?
If so, try continuing on along the feeder lane, join the track in the
back-straight and see if that makes any difference.
Perhaps whoever did the conversion put something in that requires the
player to exit "properly" in order to qualify?

Just a thought.....won't hurt to try it.

WRONG.. the QUAL line must be QUAL 2 1 (The second number is the number of
qualifying laps, so you can make this 2 if you choose, but generally NASCAR
only allows 2 laps for qualifying at restrictor plate races, which Indy is
not). The first number determines the type of qualifying, and NASCAR2 only
recognizes the type 2 qualifying.

That is incorrect, NASCAR typically allows 2 laps in qualifying.

No, he's correct. One timed lap except at restrictor plate races

Are we talking NASCAR THE GAME, or NASCAR the real life sport?
One timed lap except at restrictor plate races, is correct for the
game, but NASCAR typically allows 2 laps in the real sport.

I go to the brickyard every year and its one warm up out of the pits and
then they get the green then checker.  No 2 lap sprints like Talladega or
Daytona.  That I why I have made qualifying like this in my AI text file
for Indy.

The only tracks that they qualify one lap is the larger tracks like
Indy, Pocono, Michigan, and the road courses. At Bristol, Martinsville,
Dover, Darlington, etc. they get two laps.

Bristol and Martinsville have 2 lap quals as well (in real life).....
