After I qualify, my spotter tells me to bring it on home. So I guess he is
refering to going to the pits. So I drive into the pits and it doesn't do
a thing. I notice that I can hit ESC anytime after I have did my final
qualifying lap.

Any insight?

What do you want the spotter to do? maybe a little song and dance
after you come in. He just says to come on in so as to let the player
know that the qual run is complete. Might as well hit Esc after
you qual,cause he`s night holding a party for you in the pits.

Song and dance? A wee bit unrealistic.

Actually if the game tells me to do something and I do it, then something
else should happen. Maybe something like not having to hit the ESC button.

That's just the standard response to the checkered flag. It's a red
herring.

I agree. What good does it do to sit there in the pits. As a matter of
fact, I think the pit crew actually will change your tires for you like
you can go out and do it all again. Don't expect too much from Papyrus,
you'll just end up disappointed.
