N2: Conclusion

by Pekka Hei » Sun, 05 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I've been reading the posts in r.a.s. and come to the following
conclusion.

You can't race against the AI opponents on certain tracks due to
various problems. You can't use Nascar2 for offline racing. You can't
modem race with another human reliably and without problems.

My question is; What can you do with Nascar2?

This post is not meant as a major flamebait. I have derived this
conclusion from all the posts I've read in r.a.s. made by the dozens
of different users of Nascar Racing 2-simulation.

If I have misinterpreted what I've read, please feel free to correct
me but in a civilized manner.

Greetings,

Pekka Heino

Learn to race within the largely exaggerated problems and watch the Pits
and Sierra for patches. If nothing else, help me figure out a Taladega
setup that will turn better than 196 at 72 degress.

Pekka.......
Please remember that the posts in RAS DO NOT necessarily represent the
opinions of everyone who has bought the sim: there is a vast 'silent
majority' out here who do not use the RAS facility.

I have owned/used every racing sim to appear over the past 6 years and have
no hesitation in recommending N2.  Sure....there are some bugs which,
hopefully, Papyrus will address......and sure, you can't save a race.

Those issues aside, it is still provides me with a buzz when I'm 'driving'
and, to be honest, has now seen me consign N1 to my archives.  I also might
add that I also enjoy GP2 but I enjoy the 'feel' of N2 more.

I'm sure you will enjoy the product if you gave it a try.--

Nascar 2 is a good game and i find it very enjoyable most of the bugs are
minor and the grahics are improved over nascar 1 though you need a pentium
120 or better to handle it.
Most of the people complaining about all the bugs don't seem to rember
that when nascar 1 came out it to had alot of bugs in fact i didn't enjoy
playing the game until the 1.2 patch came out.

<snip>

Harley, that is just the point I wanted to make with my post.

I will probably enjoy the game a whole lot when it is fixed. In
another words I should not have bought the game at all when first
released but wait until the bugs are taken care of and only then make
my small monetary contribution to Sierra's bank account.

No flames....just facts.  I modem race regularly with N2. Sometimes
Dega, sometimes C***te, sometimes N Wilks.  No complaints, no connect
problems, no real beef.  Minor pit problem - expecting patch for that -
no biggy.  Would like to use DSVD - expect patch for that too.  Sim may
have some bugs, but still a good buy and heluva thrill on modem.
