NASCAR and More Memory

I have a Pentium 150 with 16 Meg Ram and 256k cache.  I'm thinking
about adding 16 Meg Ram and 256 more cache.  Would I see any change in
NASCAR frame rate?  It runs good with 16 but the stands turn on and
off so i set them to stay off.  No big deal but I'm thinking about 16
Meg anyway.
thanks

I'm reading this news group daily, some times twice a day. My options are set to
-show only unread mail-. Every  time I read I see the same thing. "Whats the best way to
upgrade my pentium 9000, One hundred million gig ram, 7000meg vidio card memory,....ect
massive stuff???"

   I have a two year old 486 sx 33, 8 meg ram, 1 meg vidio...ect $500.00 Wal-mart
special Packared Bell, running VGA.

Don't get me wrong, but, I have no problems running 5 ahead, 3 behind, 2 heard, skids
on, wall on, smoke on, car tecture auto, grand stand auto, every thing els off. The only
problem is in the tri at daga when there are three or more cars crashing the screen
pauses-starts-pauses-starts till half way between the tri and the start finish. The
frame rate is set to 11 max and I can't remember the minimum. (I have no proboblems with
any other track).

In any case, I have no problems with my machine but I see every one with a
$10,000.00 machine cant do too good and continuesly ask for advice on how to fix
problems with frame rates, vidio cards...ect. :-)

I'm *NOT* ***ing, just making an observation is all. :-)

Extra RAM won't make a bit of difference, only CPU/MB/Video card will.
The benefit of extra RAM is that you can save longer replays.

Bill.

I'm not sure how the cache would affect NASCAR, but in general it does
speed up your computer.  The extra memory will only provide you with
longer replays, no increase in performance.  Though it might come in
handy for Windoze.

From my experience, the cache will help your frame rate, but the memory
will not.  I added 16M EDO to my existing 16M regular RAM and didn't see
any noticeable increase in frame rates or in the benchmarks I ran.  On
the other hand, I have previously compared 256K to 512K cache with
noticeable improvement.  The added RAM will give you the capacity to get

Adding memory will not speed up Nascar racing (but it will let you save
longer replays).  Adding more cache beyond 256k will not speed up Nascar
racing (at least not by a noticable amount).

If your motherboard does not support pipelined burst cache, get a motherboard
that does (I use a Tyan Tomcat 1).  Everything goes faster with pipelined
burst cache.

To speed up the game, get either a) a faster CPU, or b) a faster video card.
The fastest vieo cards out right now use the new ET6000 chipset, and there are
several manufacturers out there with cards using this chipset (Herculese, STB,
VideoLogic).

I've added 8 more meg of ram and STILL can't save replays on Hawaii.
I have a total of 16. Everything else is great. No hop, skips or jumps,
SMOOOOOOTH.

Anyone have any idea whats wrong, why can't I save replays?

> JohnAs far as I know the only thing more memory will change is the length of

the film in the replay area - it has no effect on frame rates. To get the
stands to stop turning on and off just set them to manual rather than
auto at the graphics menu in the options area then turn 'em on - they
will then stay seen at all times.
