IPX Multiplayer Problem

by toon » Fri, 15 May 1998 04:00:00

I have one Cd, used for the host.  Does the client need a cd?  I have the
client on a full install so the client can play without the cd.  When I
set to IPX multiplayer the host and the client show the the host on the
LAN but neither host nor client show the client.  The host only shows one
player.  Do I need to HEX edited the client? I saw a reccomendation for
this at dejanew and in this ng but I'm not sure if this is the solution
to my specific problem or not.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance, Toons

Make sure both of the computers are set to the same subnet address and Frame
type as well.....  I like to use Subnet 1 and frame type  ethernet 802.3......
All of this can be found in your Network properties in your control panel.
Highlight the IPX Protocol and choose advanced options.  Make sure both
computers are set with the same settings.

Hope this helps

Try this site  http://home.earthlink.net/~tsatwood/index.html
They have a good guide to settiing up a tcp/ip lan and using ipx under dos.
Worked like a
charm or me.
