Racing Wheel Update", and haven't found it anywhere, including Microsoft
itself.
I have a Guillemot Race Leader wheel (that works fine in 98..even with the
USB hack) where the pedals fail to work correctly in Win2K. (3 axis
mode:Throttle works, brake is all on or all off only, 2 axis only: it
appears that the brake is ***, the throttle brings it up to 0). This
wheel has been converted to run USB (as serial supposedly isn't supported in
Win2k according to Guillemot).
I am running all the latest patches etc for windows2K, so I believe I have
DX8.1, but the pedals still don't work correctly, and Guillemot/Thrustmaster
basically won't support these wheels in Win2k/XP either.
There is supposedly a fix that some people have noticed appear in "windows
update", this has NOT appeared for me with the
converted Race Leader wheel. Excerpt from the readme file that comes with
the update, I found this readme in an archive on this newsgroup:
"Pedals on Thrustmaster/Guillemot Racing Wheels Update
This update corrects the behavior of the accelerator and brake pedals in
games that use DirectInput for DirectX 8.0 for the following devices:
Thrustmaster NASCAR Pro Digital 2 Racing Wheel
Guillemot Race Leader Force Feedback Racing Wheel
yada yada"
Can anyone help to locate this patch/update please, the web, Thrustmaster,
Guillemot and Microsoft all seem to have no information on this at all
(there were only 2 threads on this newsgroup). What exactly was the problem
that this fixed (i.e. will it fix my prob?)
Cheers
Tony
