I just posted my thoughts on it prior to finding this one. (see New
Rally 2000 Demo above). I have not played the previous demo nor any
current variations of Need for Speed so those I can't comment on. The
collisional and off track effects are indeed sorely lacking. If a car
hits a tree at 100+mph the tree is taken for a ride along with the
car.. not instant stop and drive around. The sounds also get me..
what is that sound when you are on the grass? It reminds me of a
waterfall or something.. Are not rally cars a bit higher off the
ground than normal cars and thus should be able to cruise over grass
with nearly the same speeds as they would on regular roads? Especially
the AWD versions???
I wonder when the GPL physics for Rally 2k discussion will start..
<grin> I know they would never blend, nevermind the different
companies but this one at least has the eye candy that other games
haven't.. but now it needs something to round out the package a bit.
Better controller interface and better driving physics would go a LONG
way to improve this game. Again, I look very forward to the next
updates.
