NICE 2 demo - any thoughts?

I downloaded the bigger NICE 2 racing demo from www.avault.com.
While it still seemed very incomplete like you could drive through
trees and other objects, I found it hilarious driving with Fiat 500,
which lost speed even in the smallest uphills. ;-) Nice deviation (pun
intended) from the normal racing games where you drive only 500+ hp
cars.

Any thoughts? This could be a nice arcade racer with a nice twist of
underpowered cars. Oh and the graphics were mighty fine too, and very
smooth.

I downloaded both demos (9MB & 20MB) because I could (nightly
download) but I can't figure out what's different between them. The
bigger one is supposed to have more tracks or something, but I can't
figure out how to get to them. How did you drive another car? I can't
get better than 8th place, let alone get close to winning, so maybe
that's how you get other stuff. As soon as the lamborghini so much as
touches a pothole, you're airborn for hours. It's like they don't have
physics models, but rather every car is a solid brick of styrofoam
filled with helium. :)

says...

The bigger one has 3 cars and 3 tracks. The smaller one has one of the
tracks from the bigger one and a different car. Read the read-me file
that came with it to help you decipher the German.

I love the whole idea of racing cars that actually respond like real
cars.......
I'm one of those people that loved CLUB GTI int he arcades..and while not
really realistic, it was great fun racing those little 4-bangers around
twisty courses..

Like ones that go from zero to 300 kph in under 5 seconds? I wonder
what kind of tires they put on them.

All the current racers seem to dwell on 'floor it to 200mph and hold it down
except a little for the curve' syndrome.  And if you spin out that's it. The
tracks(real or imaginary) are so big that it's almost like racing alone. I
still liked the original MTM demo track, you actually could see some of the
other racers occasionally.

Bring back small tracks and tight slippery curves!

Not to pry, but real racing is pretty much that.

I love it like that. I hate realistic sims where you have to go slow as
heck, and even slower on the curves.

Your opinion does not necessarily reflect that of the rest of the world.

I think the driving model is the best for an arcade game since NFS1.  No

And each car is really different.  I love the way the Fiat bogs down going
uphill.  Graphics are great eye candy and run very smoothly on my P166 32 meg
with 3dfx.

My one complaint is there is too much crash 'em up in the AI.  NO attempt is
made to pass cleanly, but rather take you out of the race entirely.  I'd like
to see this changed.  It doesn't seem like it should be a destruction derby
style game.  And a question:  With the Fiat, shouldn't they give you a rank in
your class (prolly with the jag, too)?  I've finished 5th, but I sure don't
think I'll ever beat 1-4 (4th place was the truck).  Is this different in the
final?  Is the point of the slower cars to learn the track and set lap times,
and not to "win?"  Someone else said there may be a sim mode.  If that cleans
up the homicidal AI drivers, it'll be a sure buy if and when it reaches the US.
