Couple of STCC2 questions.

1.There is a dedicated STCC2 web site with a forum but I can't
remember the url. Anyone have it?

2. I am using the 3.2 patch and it says it fixes the MS FF wheel
problem. Well, the only force I feel is the tension on my wheel when
starting the 3D part of the game - it's too much tension too and I
can't see any way to change it. I feel no forces from curves, hitting
other cars, walls, or the rumble strips. What gives? Is this how it is
suypposed to be?

3. This sim has waaaaaay too much grip in the corners. I can whip
around most corners at almost full throttle. Is there any mods to
change this or am I missing a setting somewhere to make it more of a
sim?

P.S. Somene in this news group gave me the impression that this is a
great sim and N4 sucks in comparison. Well, that person needs to get
their head checked. It looks good and everything, but the physics are
semi-arcade and can't even begin to compare to N4.

The FF indeed initially feels very heavy, I found turning it down removed
the FF I got from touching other cars and I've now become used to it.
Perhaps you don't have enough damping forces set. I too have less damping
set for Papyrus games. Curbs don't do much to the FF, but you should
definately feel it when you lean on other cars.

The grip level of the cars feels correct to me. Remember, these cars are
much lighter than those used in Nascar and are running on quite fat slicks.
Having seen them in action it wouldn't surprise me if these cars were indeed
torque limited around most medium to high speed bends. Around Zolder these
cars are only 8 seconds slower than 1980's Grand Prix cars (and there's an
extra chicane in the track since then).

To me the difference between grip, drift and slide feels rather discrete
though. Can't imagine even modern racing slick's slip angle curves to be
quite that "stepped".

N4 or GPL it ain't, but it's a damn sight better than the Toca series. Pity
about the naff AI in places. I think it threads the line between arcade and
sim very well. IMO, it even leans over to the sim side. AI may be slow in
places, but they don't get magically quicker once you pass 'm.

No, I found that one today. The one I'm looking for has a green
background on all the pages. Unless this is the same site revamped.

That's the one, thx!

Do you feel the rumble strips? I will check my settings in windows,
but I was hoping there are some mods I could make to a file in the
game to change it. Most games have an option to change the force
effect in the game, but STCC2 has none that I can see.

They feel like they have  more grip than a modern day F1 car even.
Even the Camaro cars are not hard to drive on these tracks. I think I
will get to like the game more as I play it more, but I rate it on
about the same level as Mobil1 Rally Championship for car physics and
with a bit more tweaking to the physics engine  it could have been a
real contender. The graphics engine is great.

I haven't really gotten around to looking at the AI just yet. Thx for
responding.

Great game, not as good as Nascar 4, as you said......
Do you do skins for the cars or anything interesting....?

Thx.

Yea, it's no where near in the same league as N4, but it is fun and
it's a notch up from SCGT. I've yet to see any damage to my car even
after a headon crash with another car. Just a side thought, but, why
is it all the Euro sims have backfiring engines with flashes shooting
out the tail pipes always?

Just got STCC2 yesterday, doubt I'll do any skins for this one though.

uh, highly tuned cars, like these, will do that.  I wasn't aware it
was a euro thing.

btw; I've found that I have no chance of going anywhere near fast in
front wheel drive cars.  I can do pretty well in the Audi, though.
weird, huh?

Well, I was basing that on every Rally sim I have ever played, which
are all Euro products. So you are saying it's realistic that these
cars back fire on just about every shift? I thought they did it just
for eye candy in the games.

You talking real life or in STCC2?

it's probably a bit overdone in the games, but they do that, yes.

STCC2, I guess.  I've never tried to flog a front wheel drive in RL.
