Renaming a Track

Renaming a Track

Does anyone out there know how to "copy" a track so that you have 2
tracks that are identical but maybe with different AI and a different
name.  I am trying to copy the Talladega track so I have one with the AI
update and one the original way.  Also, I could substitute the copy for
that race to kick off the season and also for that one that is around
the fourth of July (without naming names of course).  Also, I would like
to copy the C***te Track for a certain date in the lone star state
and Michigan for a Certian race out west.

I am not talking about changing the code that makes these tracks look
the way they do.  I just want to have 2 seperate restrictor plates with
different AI and different race names and logos in the season page in
the game.

If there is a way to do this, please give the knowledge to do so.  I
have tried renaming the .dat file and the txt files, this does not work.
Also, I have tried to unpack and change the taladega name to something
else, but it wont repack the file...I am doing something wrong.

Any help in this matter is appreciated.

Thanks

John

Well, you're headed in the right direction...just rename the references
to 'dega in the taladega.pck file, and then go ahead and repack the dat
file.  :)

This is also what I'm trying to do but with no success.  Someone posted
here that you rename four or five files withing the track .dat file and
this should do it.  I got a "problem loading track info" message in N1.
Maybe it involves unpacking and then packing the .dat files?  I've got a
pack/unpack utility and can unpack but no clue as to how you pack
everything back into a .dat file.  The instructions weren't very clear
(at least to me).  If anyone out there can help please post or e-mail.
Thanks.
