CART Precision Racing - Are we awake?

Hi all,

I am suprised that there is not much talk about this simulation here.
There is a great 25 minute interview (Real-Audio format) about it on
www.allgames.com and microsoft updated their website with new pictures
about a week ago. The demo movie is also available and it looks better
than any racing game I have ever seen, and the in-car view is the best
you will see outside of an arcade. It also has a racing school where I
hope teaches the intricacies and rules of CART racing - the way my
friends drive on Nascar2 they will need it. There should be a demo
available sometime in November.

Cheers, Ian.

I am also very, very surprised that there isnt a great deal
of talk about this sim in that, we are (auto/simmers) always looking for
that one great game and this truely looks like the "one"! We all know
about the game, but as most of us have learned, screenshots are'nt
everything but after looking at these shots running at 30+fps this is
going to be one hell of a title.
Also, CART Racing will support 3dfx (d3d) and force feedback.
The combo CART/Monster3d/P200/32megs/ACT Labs/17inch monitor is going to
be great. The only problem is I need the CART portion of the combo ;)
Can ya help.................

I hadn't heard of Microsoft CART till now. Don't rely on the screenshots as
it's Microsoft and could be unreliable. Although it looks like it could be
as good as Ubisoft F1, although the F1 screenshots look better, and from
what I've heard the demo runs 30-40fps on a fairly standard 'puter.

My 2 cents...

I'll believe it when I drive it.

Feel is everything and almost nobody ever gets it right.

I'm looking forward to Papy's revamed ICR 2 more and hope they make a few
changes to it. Papy I know knows how to do it right.

The ubi thing is highly questionable as well. That Touring Car thingy sounds
like it fell apart. Xcar didn't make it. Motoracer made it but isn't sim but
had a strong handling model and awesome speed. F1 Psygnosis was a cruel joke,
Wipeout nope, NFS SE no, Pod no, Soda no. Most everything in the past no. Most
everything in the future no. And if the future was "YES" we wouldn't need to
many anyways.

But don't fret I'll buy each and everyone of them a see for myself and of
course return the ones that don't live up to what they say they are. So don't
worry I'm certain MS's D3D game will be all aces. Did I mention that I never
played a MS d3d game that I liked, it seems they have more problems with d3d
programming than outside houses. That I find really odd.

This is the same thing out for playstation, right? It looked *so*
good, and the tracks it had were all the best- Laguna, Michigan, and 8
others in that caliber... the only reason I didn't buy it right then
is that I wanted to hear here what the scoop is on it. It is
officially CART sanctioned, and it certainly looks better than any
IndyCar sim I've ever seen.

I haven't been too e***d about the new F1'97 because, frankly, no
matter how great the sim is, I am a little bored by F1 at this point
in it's history... the formula, IMO, needs some reworking. But I
wanted to see the new F1 anyway, and it was only while looking for it
that I happened upon the CART sim. Why wasn't I aware this was coming
out now? And who exactly made it? It only says "Sony." Now, Sony
*owns* Psygnosis, right? And I must say there appears to be a
similarity between the graphics. But maybe that is just "playstation."

I just want to know if it supports *calibration* of analog
controllers. Andretti racing didn't, and if made it useless for me.

No, this is a different product: CART Precision Racing, developed by
Terminal Reality and Microsoft, not Sony. It is not the same thing as
the Sony PlayStation game.
