there is mention that Papyrus held up release of that track for some
reason.
Does anyone know the latest status of the converter? Does it convert to
and from GPL?

All I know is they got their hand slapped... and you saw the result on
the Pits. I don't know the details behind it, but apparently it's the
old copyright thing. If people added NEW tracks to GPL, I don't think
Papy would care, but I don't think they want their hard work in GPL
being filtered into other sims... even their own!
Too bad, but I guess we'll just have to deal with the Modern Glen (still
fun) in N2.
