Nascar2 & Corrupt Screen Palette?

Nascar2 & Corrupt Screen Palette?

by Mark Hann » Mon, 04 Aug 1997 04:00:00

Hello,

I have an interesting problem.  I have Win95, Nascar2 (patched to
version 1.03), a cheap S3 Trio 64V+ video.

If I am running Win95 and then I 'Boot to MS-DOS' mode and then
start Nascar2 the games colours are completely screwed.  All
screens are coloured in some sort of surreal martian-like haze.
It seems that the colour pallete is incorrect.

I solve this problem by booting direct to DOS and running
the game from there.

I wouldn't have worried about so much but today I tried to use
kali to setup an internet race.  Kali worked and when I start
Nascar2 all looked OK, I chose the Multi-player menu, selected
network dial and pressed connect.  Suddenly my colours were
crazy again!  Exiting from the connect menu and they became
right again.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks, Mark

Hello Mark

I wonder if Windows is screwing around with you video card. I
too use the S3 Trio 64 without problems (other than it's to
damn slow). Or is there some entry in the DOSSTART.BAT file in
the Windows directory that is fiddling things around. The
DOSSTART.BAT  sets up mouse, sound card, CD Rom etc when you
"Restart in MS DOS mode" from Windows 95. Have a look in there
and let us know how you get on. If its work from direct into
DOS then there is nothing wrong with you gear. So just blam
Bill Gates and look at Win 95 as the colprit.

Cheers and I heard last night the Peter Brock has retired. A
good man in the V8 Ausy touring.
