Here In Australia on the East coast NSW and VIC went onto daylight saving
time the night before the race and Qld didn't so although the race finished
around 4pm local time in Qld, in Sydney NSW it was 5pm and for the host
broadcaster Channel 10 that is time for the news so Sydney calls the shots
and so telecast ends. TV execs must be the same the world over. Here on there
later sports show we didn't get much more of the interview either so they
must have sent the crew home just after they stopped showing it live here.
And all they had to do was start the race around 30 mins earlier and even
a timed race would have left plenty of post race time .

I don't know why QLD hasn't gone daylight savings. A mate was up there
and said it was sunny before 5am, getting dark at 6pm. Go figure.

Pretty ridiculous, spend all this time with pre-race fluff and then
cut to the news after 2mins of interviews. no good.

Queensland doesn't bother with daylight savings. It's GMT+9 all year
there. And as close to the equator as it is, the sun sets around 6 and
it is dead dark 15 minutes later. Pretty weird to watch when I'm used
to living just south of the polar circle, where the sun is under the
horizon for 2 hours mid summer. And is up for like 5 hours mid winter :)

Far be it from me to be a pedant but Australia Eastern Standard Time,
covering Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales (most) and Queensland, is
GMT +10.
