All of you regular R.A.S.'ers had better prepare for an influx of new posts.
If the plug is pulled on the Ten newsgroup . . . they'll all probably
migrate over here.

Well, no, but there is a certain standard one has come to expect of RAS
devotees. Of course we do have to skip the occasional post about Need for
Spud (the critically acclaimed new sim about the Irish Potato Famine ... not
too difficult for the masses to master), but that's a small price to pay for
the GPL community we have. Perhaps we can convert them ... with patience ...
and kindness ... and free soup.

Are you for real?  What constitutes a regular R.A.S.'er???  I won't even begin to go into what this says about your sense of what medium you just used to post that message, or the false sense of ownership you have about this newsgroup.  Maybe your  browsing  of the TEN newsgroup left a bad taste in your mouth? In any case, I assure you that there are 9 decent sim'ers for every single sim'er that conducts himself in a way that would be otherwise impossible, lest he get unwanted "physical therapy", without the secure and safe, anonymity of the internet.  So when you say **> If the plug is pulled on the Ten newsgroup . . . they'll all probably migrate over here**, let me remind you that segregation of the masses usually ends in war....and that is not what newsgroups are about.

And before I go, let me apologize to all who agree with me that the above is probably over the top.  I almost decided to just skip this post and not respond but I was immediately pissed off by what I read and those are my feelings whether good or bad.  I just hate to see a majority inappropriately judged by the actions of a minority.

Yeah, like I've been ingnoring all the open wheel posts here.
A little change is always good, personally I'd love to see more stock car
posts in here - it would give this newsgroup more diversity that it
desperately needs imho. After all, it is rec.autos.simulators , not
rec.autos.openwheel.simulators right?

Bullshit!!  What is wrong with a little war or two??  Some of us are
also flight simmers and without a new war every few years we would have
less new flight sims.  How would you like it if they had no F1 or NASCAR
races for the last 40 years.  How about no NASCAR 2&3, GP1&2, or  GPL.
Worst yet, what if auto racing had been banned after WWII, we should
would have some crappy racing sims to talk about. :-) Paul

As a R.A.S. irregular I have no problem with the TEN people coming here to
post their comments. That is what public newsgroups are all about afterall.
If they help to shift the topic away from so much GPL blather, then I think
that would be a good thing. Not simply because I'm not a fan of that game,
but this is a general discussion group, and GPL has been taking alot of
space recently. And as we know, being a stupid American I am unable to deal
with the right AND left hand turns, and all of that space that the track
takes up. (Just trying to flame myself to save time.)

When N3 comes out, I'd assume that NASCAR posts will dominate just like
GPL does now.  Then when the next Open wheel sim comes out from Papyrus,
it will dominate, the when the next NASCAR sim comes out, it will
dominate, ect.. ect.. ect..  It did this way back before NASCAR-1, back
and forth.  It all depends on the newest and best Sim of the time.  wait
a second, let me rephrase that... it all depends on the newest sim of
the time. After all, we know that GPL is the better Sim ;-)

Of course I think that people should be banned if they can't follow the
unwritten "policy" [term used very lightly] of posting in straight TEXT and
not HTML format.  Not to mention, all silly adverti***ts like "You don't
just drive with it, IT DRIVES YOU!!!" -- which is obviously nothing more
than BS, I don't care how good you may or may not think the product is --
which we see enough of on TV, webpages, etc.

Other than that, I generally concur with what Rhawn had to say.

Are you for real?  What constitutes a regular R.A.S.'er???  I won't even

Truth be known, a good number of them probably already participate here,
but there's not much to talk about because for the last year, the
majority of attention has shifted to GPL.  I imagine that with the
release of N3, many of "the TEN people" will dump TEN and switch over to
free racing.  You won't be able to tell a "TEN person" from "r.a.s.
regulars".
