GPL Shifer and GPL

GPL Shifer and GPL

About a week ago I got a GPL shifter from ACT-LABS (i'm in Australia),
all up it cost 260 AUD (100 just for shipping). After spending a bit
of time with it, you really do need a clutch (at the moment it is my
right paddle on my LWFF), because the little blip that GPL normally
does isn't there any more, which makes braking much more difficult as
it upsets the car.

So you have to manually do  the blips yourself (which is great fun),
but being a left foot braker I will find it hard to change over to
using it for a clutch (getting some of those new act-lab pedals as
well, perhaps I can do a sort of left foot braking blipping the clutch
type thing instead, anyone seen that done before?).

Its just to hard to right foot brake and be in control of the car. So
I think on VROC I will just use my paddle for a clutch, I might even
fit together some sort of hand analog clutch.

Anyway, I'll have install some more games like Viper Racing and NFS5
to see what its like with them.

How do you get it work with GPL? I have a shifter (and wheel, pedals
should be arriving when they're ready) now as well and would like to
add support for it in my sim, but have been wondering a bit about
neutral gear and such, so I'd like to see it in GPL.

Thanks,

I find that I just have to use the brakes to slow the car and not down
shift too early. I find with the paddles I use the trany to slow the
car way too much, or to save a really hot corner entry. I really love
the shifter in F3/FG, in F1 there is too much other stuff to think
about. I have raced F1 at Monza and do not notice any problems with
the car upsetting, and I did a PB with the Ferrari, then again it was
a 1:32 :-( Then again my fastest time at Monza is 1:30 in the Eagle.

when you brake it is much more efficient to downshift later than usual, if
not then it's true you tend to donwshift too early and lock the rear, like
what happens on a motorbike if your shift down too early...
