I do all sorts of racing, and NFS SE is still the one I throw on the
network when my friends are coming over. No 3D accelerator required,
easy to pick up gameplay, tons of fun.
Best part is you can buy it for less than $15 at lots of places (it's
part of EA's CD-ROM Classics series) and you only need one CD - you
can install a "client" version on your second machine (about 100-120
meg).
If you really want to splurge, get a TM Grand Prix 1 for around $30 -
they'll swear it's the coolest thing they've ever done on a PC. I'm
assuming you already have a wheel for yourself, of course...
All in all, an absolute winner.
