MS Sidewinder Stick in DOS?

Will the MS Sidewinder Precision Pro Joystick work in DOS?  So far I can't
seem to get my DOS games/sims to see it properly, including Screamer 2
which worked okay with my previous cheap stick.  I downloaded the latest
software for the joystick from the Microsoft site but it hasn't made any
differance.

You can only use it under windows in a dos box. Even then some games don't
work.
