None.  Even though there are improvements in the 2002 version for digital
controllers, get a wheel or a joystick.  If you can't afford these, then try
an arcade-oriented NASCAR title.  Unless you enjoy frustration...

I second that. I'm currently using a joystick, and even that is frustrating
to use. I've ordered myself a wheel, and though I haven't used one yet (it's
my first), I would recommend getting one. You'll be lucky to stay consistent
with a joystick...though not entirely impossible.

"William Bradshaw" <
  one quick thought Will.

When you get your new wheel, chances are you will have a tough time
getting used to it...Don't be discouraged.  You won't magically turn faster
times, you will have to relearn HOW to turn and probably change your
settings...i.e. more toward Linear.  But after a few days, you mind and
reflexes will adjust and you'll never look back at a Joystick/gamepad again.

Which gamepad is best for Nascar 2002?

hi,

haven't tried this with nascar 2002 (not available locally), but I
have had great results with my PSX Dual Shock and other sims, like
GPL.  I have a 1:32 monza lap using that controller.  only problem is
the digital throttle.  the analog thumb sticks are better than the
digital D-Pad's prevalent on other controllers.  I've since stopped
using it as my parallel interface needs some repair.

I believe there are usb converters though which are a lot less hassle.
also you can program all the buttons (there are quite a few) on the
psx controller.

good luck.

Regards all,

You want to look at the Logitech Wingman Rumblepad if you're not going for a
full wheel.  I use it with my notebook for GPL, F1-2001 etc. and various
flight sims when I'm travelling.  It has two analog sticks, and I assign one
stick's vertical axis to throttle / brake, the other stick's horizontal axis
to steering, and it works brilliantly.  Obviously, a wheel would be better,
but the amount of control with the two analog sticks is surprisingly good,
but it needs quite a bit of tweaking to get the sensitivity right.  It's
USB, and also features little rumble motors which tell you a surprising
amount about the car handling with GPL's and F1-2001's excellent force
feedback.

I totally Agree Stephen, I use that exact Gamepad and set it up like
you described. The top trigger is a really good handbrake also. Some
kind of a left handed brake system would be nice(Saitek).  I believe
its the best gamepad out there in my opinion. I used a Sidewinder
Thrustmaster Joy Stick for a long time, the one thing that just didnt
work out for me was the size of the Joystick handle makes it really
easy to oversteer. I like the gamepad personally much more for racing
games. Its kinda nice to sit back once in a while and relax and race.
I do want to get the wheel for realism and just more fun I would
think.

By the way I bought the GameVoice by Microsoft today. Radio Shack is
closing out of them and its marked down from $49 to $19. I thought for
twenty bucks I would give it a try, anyone have any input on that
unit? Its Version 1.
