Help: thrustmaster makes computer reboot!

by Jurrie » Sat, 19 Jun 1999 04:00:00

Hello,

I just bought a thrustmaster FF steering wheel. When i install it or
afterwards try to acces the software my computer reboots itself. In setup it
reboots when w98 tries to add the new hardware and after restart it does the
same when i acces the software. I tried USB and serial connection. Both had
the same result. Im downloading the 1.3 install now but want to know what
goes wrong and whether 1.3 solves this.

thnk you very much

Help: thrustmaster makes computer reboot!

Jurrien,

1.3 will not help (much)- I had  exactly the same experience. The drivers
suck!
I even installed w95 for it.

OKe what is important is that your puter at ALL time must be able to see the
equpment.
The floor peddles plug is quite unhandy attached to the wheel. make very
sure that the plug is attached allright!

Further more I have a Microsoft Joystick, that loads a control in the
desktop bar... the TM coul not handle that.
If you have a modem or ISDN card: make sure it does not share the IRQ with
the serial port (my ISDN has virtual modem com ports). So if TM is on com1
make sure NOTHING is on com3.

Under W95 it was a bit more controlable.... but also reboots occured.
I have been tolded that fro the USB there's a pacth on the Microsoft site
what may help you...

I haven't tried... The TM has very great force feedback- but I've returned
it and got a MS wheel instead... the FF is not as fantastic as the TM but
drivers and wheel are better quality- and it's more precise.

Ik hoop dat je er uit komt... het gamezaakje aan de Nobelstraat in utrecht
vertelde mij over de USB drivers...

Succes,
Frans
