No F1 2k2 + GTR2002 mod + free Nurburgring conversion, most likely. Nice
time, though not ultra quick.

I think the cars in NR2003 should be capable of sub 8-minute laps as well.

Should be Jan considering I've seen guys turn 1:27s at Monza in them and
they aren't guys I'd class as speed demons in GPL.

If you all visit The Pits, we're running a contest for the best lap.  Closing date is Jul 4th, see other rules...

Hmmm, sorry, didn't recognize the N2003.
I just saw Nrburgring and something with "00" and implied that it was
F1 2002 with the GT mod.

There's one question though, why do the times differ between the two versions?
Is it a different Nrburgring layout in N2003?

Cheers,

Hey, took me at least seven or eight laps to get there
after downloading the Ring. ;-)

But I agree, there's a lot of room for improvement .

Umm.. because the cars are totally different?

"JKo"
The unmodified GTR 2k2 cars have approximentally 600 horsepower.  The
Winston Cup Stock car is closer to 750hp.  But the winston Cupper weighs a
great deal more. FIA=2425lbs(1100kg) vs WC=3400lbs(1542kg)  Six speed
clutchless *** in the FIA cars vs 4 speed clutched transmission in the
Cup cars.    Both sims model grip differently.  Even tho the core track is
the same(from gpl) it's conversion to another sim is different.  Indeed, I
think you would find the FIA cars even faster IF the track was properly
smoothed out.  I suspect a fair sized decrease in lap times when the
official Simbin Track is released.   Of course I don't think any of the
simbin versions will exactly match the 67 based GPL to Nr2k3.  Simbin is
creating a traditional track, circa 1977 for their F1 77 mod, a modern
track(cutting off the straights infront and behind the old pits) and a
24hour track which combines the Nordscleife circuit with the modern F1
circuit for a slightly longer lap.
There are lots of reasons why lap times are different.  I, (a known
slug) can take a 600hp Viper in the SCGT version and get lap times in the 6
minute range with hotshoes in heavily tweeked cars getting down to 5 minute
laps.  Every sim is different, especially sims that model different series
and ESPECIALLY mods of different series.
What's frustrating for me(Mr Slug) is that I can't take a beta of the
Audi R8 from the LeMans 2k2k24hr mod and even get close to the faster GTR
times..even tho the GTR cars are much more difficult to drive.

FIA GT cars are clutchless?  I thought fully manual trannies were
mandated.

Ah yes, but many racing trannies can shift gears without usng the
clutch, at least on the upshit, you just briefly lift the throttle a
fracion to unload the transmission and snap it into gear letting the
"dogrings" do their bit....or whatever they use these days instead of a
syncromesh, pretty neat actually
