I've developed a problem with DOS-based games in SVGA. While installing
the game MDK my computer froze up while processing some video files or
whatnot (possibly DirectX??) so I had to re-boot it. Since then,
whenever I play GP2 or any other DOS-based game in SVGA I have a
constant 'rain' of vertical sync-type lines on my screen, which I never
had before.. The picture is good, otherwise. When I switch to VGA mode
in GP2 the lines are gone. Plus, I have NO problems with Win95 screens,
only SVGA DOS-games. All my settings are the same (800x600, High-32
color, Large Fonts) before the problem began. Win95 version B doesn't
offer a driver for my Samtron 428TX monitor but the standard SVGA driver
has always worked fine.
I have tried reloading the games, reloading my video drivers (including
the latest from Diamond's web site), changing monitor types,
uninstalling DirectX ...all to no avail. Are there some DOS video
drivers in Win95 that could be corrupted? If so, where are they?
I'm using the Diamond Stealth 64 2001 series w/ 2Mb of video RAM on a
P133. In the Diamond manual it cautions don't allow DirectX to make a
certified driver otherwise it'll copy over the Stealth drivers. DirectX
is gone, removed by Clean Sweep ... how do I get rid of these blasted
vertical lines? I've even considered they could be from my SoundBlaster
16 since they stop while the game is paused. On the 'menu' screens I
see flecks with tiny bits of the picture missing.
Help!!
What is a good video accelerator 3D card? I've looked at the ATI
Wonder-in-all card w/ 4 Mb RAM and many speak highly of it. Any
comments?
Thanks for any and all help to my problem. GP2 is my favorite game and
its very irritating driving in the 'rain' all the time... :o)
