Hi all, I've got a slight problem loading this game.
When I install the game it tells me that I don't have a 3dfx card, but I
have a Voodoo2 Orchid Righteous in my machine..any ideas on how to rectify
this problem would be appreciated.

See Ya's

Chris,
The sim looks for glide.dll and sst1init.dll in thw Windows\System folder
to see if you have a 3dfx card. You can simply put those two files in that
folder and then rerun the options routine and it should see the card. I read
about this fix on either the Ubisoft site or at the f1racingsim site. One of
'em had a little zip file where you could grab just those two files. If you
cant find 'em, email me and I'll shoot you a copy of the zip file, it's only
about 150k. Good luck with your card, I'm sure that will fix it.
    All the best, Mike

But delete the two files after you have installed, otherwise I've heard you
can get wierd video results with a voodoo2.

Also, if you click the INFO button on the install screen,
it will check to see if your 3dfx card is properly installed.
I just upgraded to W98 and had to reinstall everything.
This had me going for a few minutes :-) All I can suggest
is keep working and check the INFO button until the 3dfx
card is seen. It worked for me.

Hi Chris,

The following is an extract from the FAQ by davide Greene, which can be seen
on my F1RS Page  http://home.pix.za/cm/cm000002/
I hope that this helps you

Voodoo 2 Cards

There can be a problem with detection during installation, see the
installation section for more details.
It is important that you upgrade to the latest 1.08 version as this corrects
the "pinkish font corruption" problem.

It is also recommended you have your windows desktop in 800x600x16bit before
launching F1RS.

Installer cannot detect a 3Dfx Card (Voodoo1 or Voodoo2)

If the F1RS install does not detect your 3DFX card, then you are probably
using the 3DFX reference drivers or the very latest from Orchid. On
installing these, a couple of files are missed out of your windows/system
directory. Some software specifically uses these files to recognise the
existence of a 3DFX card (including F1RS). The most straight forward
solution is to put the files back in - this will not cause any problems or
degrade the performance of the newer drivers, but will improve
compatibility.
The missing files are glide.dll and sst1init.dll. If you have these files
lying around on your hard disk, just copy them back into your windows/system
directory. If not, you can obtain them from
http://www.ubisoft.co.uk/f1rs.zip
