Thanks to those who responded to my GPL/Direct X question the other day.
With 7.0A and new drivers for my sound and 3d cards, my fps are back!

Added bonus -- better, brighter color than ever!

Andrew, Mitch, Dave, David, and anyone else who pitched in, thanks.  What a
great source of help this group is!

Happily motoring at 36 fps,
