Are 2 Game Controllers Possible on 1 pc?

I have my wheel hooked up to the standard gameport.  I want a game controller
on my computer for some other games.  I tried the gameport splitter but that
didnt work.  If I buy a regular controller with a USB port connection will that
work?  If not, other suggestions gentlemen?

I have my LWFF connected to the usb port and a gravis gamepad
pro connected to the game port on my sb live simultaneously.
The logitech profiler and gravis software don't conflict
either.  It's really quite handy.

Works like a dream for me. MS FF Wheel in the gameport, and a USB joystick
in the...errr... USB port. The best bit is that you can then use pedals and
joystick together for bike games, which feels a little easier than a wheel
alone. :-)

Yes 2 game controllers are possible, but not all controllers will allow
others to be connected with the splitter. I never could get the TM Nascar
Pro to work with a splitter.
Id recommend a USB controller regardless of the circumstances. Standard
gameport controllers are just too much of a pain. Go ahead and get a cheap
usb hub while your at it, cause 2 ports just aint enuff.
Also sometimes you have to disable the wheel in the game controllers setting
in your control panel and make the other one controller1.

Yea, I had two controllers hooked up and was always having to switch
between device ID#'s. I have three controllers now
(wheel/joystick/gamepad). I solved it by using only digital usb
devices and getting a USB extension so I don't have to reach around
the back of the computer anymore. A hub will still have problems with
ID# allocation. Now I just unplug one controller and plug in the one I
want to use. No ID# switching or calibration needed. This way is the
best of all I find.

I used the USB hub solution, too.
When my keyboard started crapping out and I went shopping for a
replacement, I found out that Microsoft markets a keyboard with a 2
port USB hub built into it.

I'm not sure who makes it for them, but I like this thing a lot.
The ports are right on the back right side of the keyboard, and it has
the standard key layout, not the Microsoft ergonomic style.
I can switch controllers in seconds, and the cost was under $30.
I kept my hub, but I'm not even using it any more.
