Saw a few messages regarding the new Direct X version and whether it
fixes the disappearing controller problem.

I had a similar problem with W98 and a Via chipset. I am using a TSW2
wheel with Act Labs GPL shifter. I spoke to Dave Thomas Jr. and he
pointed me towards www.viaarena.com and look for "USB Filter Driver
Patch".

I haven't had a problem since then.

Those affected may want to check it out.
