MSFF setup for GPL

MSFF setup for GPL

by Neil Evere » Fri, 03 Sep 1999 04:00:00

I bought a MS Force Feedback wheel yesterday (just read Alisons report
today!) and was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a good setup in
GPL.  Alison goes into depth with the LWFF, so do similar settings for
the MS work, or is it a whole different ball game?  So far I've not
actually driven much (got to work unfortunately) so haven't changed the
default settings imported from core.ini.sample.  Just set force to
medium in control panel and self centring off.  All comments
appreciated!

No setup needed at all. just install your MsFF software. Plug in you're
wheel. Make sure you have GPL 1.1 installed. Enabel FF in the core.ini of
GPL and race like you've never raced before.

I bought one about 4 weeks ago. Since then I managed to improve my laptimes
drastically.

I use Force Feedback Level medium and Return to center medium in the Control
Panel settings for the Sidewinder. GPL switches off Return to Center
automatically, and this way the settings can be used unchanged for GP2 as
well.

In GPL I use
force_feedback_latency = 0.035          ; Default = 0.085
force_feedback_damping = 30.0  ; Default = 40.0
max_steering_torque = 450.0  ; Default = 225.0

The plan is to reduce max_steering_torque over time for stronger forces.
Sort of learning curve.
