The making of GP3 on Dutch tv

Hi all,

yesterday a Dutch channel aired a three minute scoop on what they called
'the making of GP3'. Not much new was shown (in game shots were from
Monaco, software version as far as I could see), but they had a short
interview with Nick Court and with the sound designer. Court talked
about the F1 team they were working with (he did not want to name it,
but while he was saying this we could clearly see a picture of Court in
the black F1 Arrows, and a magazine lying around in the developers
office with a picture of the Arrows team in Barcelona), he mentioned the
help functions and said he would love to take GP3 for a ride after it
has been finished. The sound designer talked a bit about how they had
tried to make the F1 atmosphere as real as they could (the in game shots
still had the GP2 sound, though).

The program also showed some shots of developers working on the scenery
in Monaco and on the steering wheel. All in all not very newsworthy, but
still a lot of fun to see. It did get me even more e***d than I
already am! I will try to find a way to digitize the taped show.

nha... that was the accelerated version... Looked just like those movies we
have seen.. He mentioned the game was as good as finished and they are in
the finishing stages now... I doubt adding hardware acceleration is
something you do in the finishing version (LOL) I also doubt they would be
showing a 4 months old none accelerated version on TV when you have
something much better (LOL again).

Well, looking at what they have shown upto now, it seems their policy not to
reveal too much in advance. So I don't think it's totally impossible that it was
an older version.

Exactly. I think the interview took place several weeks (or months?) ago. After
seeing the GP3 shots again (digitized version, at http://members.xoom.com/f1high/ )
I think it is the hardware accelerated version, but there is nothing that we have
not seen in earlier shots/pictures. Probably the same demo as in Melbourne, so it
must be an earlier build from the beginning of this year.

Wasn't the man with the chequered flag new? He's pretty hyperkinetic
if you ask me, hehe. I guess the air-density isn't modeled correctly
at the moment   :-)
