>Anyone figure out what the hell that thing is used for?

It's giving you a TV like view of the race, with an artificial
director jumping to the scenes of action.
If you didn't know, by deselecting all drivers, you can run
the game in full spectator mode (like I currently do since
my pedals don't work).
Woulda been nice if they'd give us a TV-like info bar at
the bottom too.

After 4 years you would think that they would put a Tv info bar in the
game.  What are these people doing when they create software?  Don't
they watch F1 on Tv to see what is involved to create the total package.

Huh? Watching a replay of a race, or even a "live" race in
spectator mode is as much fun as driving. For me at least.

I've just checked some GP2 utils and saw that there was one
that allowed full race replays! Given the similarities in GP3,
I'm sure we'll see an updated version sometime soon.

To take screenshots hit the "print-screen" key which copies the sceen into
some windows buffer somewhere, then quit the game and load up your favourite
art package (paint will do) and select "paste".  It definitely works, i've
tried it.
There's also probably a proper way of doing it that lets you take multiple
shots like in GPL.

If it's anything like ITV's coverage, it's so that when there's a
fantastic battle for the lead of the Italian GP between Hakkinen and
Coulthard, the (Italian) director can show us a completely pointless
replay of a Ferrari going over the kerbs at a chicane...

Yeah. That's actually a very hopeful side of the GP2-ishness of GP3.
Lots of GP2 patches could be fairly easy to transfer to GP3.
Relatively speaking.

Still better than extended shots from the inside of Erja's nose. :-)
