Only your mind stops you from joining iRacing. But quite why you would look
to a known arcade racer as an alternative is utterly beyond me. But then you
are a cunt, so I shouldn't be too surprised by your ***wit actions.
Grid is an arcade game and a very good arcade game at that. That is when its
DRM decides to let you play it, which for me right now is never...

What DRM? When I installed it the game never asked for a serial number or
needed a connection to the internet. Or do you mean copy protection? If
that's the case then you need a better DVD-RW drive because I had no issues.

Have tried re-installation and all sorts of other things, but it now fails
every-time. My machine does have Kapersky Internet Suite on it and I'm
wondering if there is some kind of bad interaction between the two?

Disable Kaspersky before you run the game and/or look for a crack for Grid.
Do you have any virtual drive software? That can stop some games from
running because they detect virtual drive software and assume you are a
pirate so won't run. Two issues with Grid I have seen so far are that my
MSFFB wheel feels too sensitive even though I have set it to the least
sensitive setting in the game and the AI cars whiz through corners far
faster than is realistic. Other than that it is the best arcade racer I have
ever played.
