Heres the scoop from Sierra this morning. They say that they started
shipping Nascar 2 yesterday to customers that preordered. As of this
morning if you didn't preorder the game you are out of luck till it
appears on store shelves because it is BACKORDERED. Must be nice to sell
out your inventory in the first day. Seems to me they must have known
how many copies were preordered. I would think they would have ordered
more than that. Take it for what its worth.

Actually, it is not a surprise.  Publishers (CD-ROM people...and
probably book people) will do things in batches, and have more than
just Papyrus stuff to publish.  If I remember correctly (I worked for
a company that produced CD-ROMs, but wasn't associated with the actual
production of it, so this is just an impression that I got from
working there), the company will run a batch and ship them back to the
company (whoever ordered it), run another batch, etc.  I think that if
you order 5x the batch size, then you won't get all 5x at once.  I
could be wrong, but I believe that that is the way that it works...and
thus it is backorder because they have to wait for the publishing
companies to generate more.

Gary.
