Because Stewart's a typical pro modern athlete; spoiled primadonna.  IMO,
a lot of the new fans to Nascar racing left following the other sports
because they're so filled with his type.
Some like to use the excuse that he's an intense, etc. racer.  Think it's
safe to say that others are/have been just as intense but don't act like
him, i.e.:

-get lead away from the track in hand***as he did in 1998, at a sprint
car, IIRC, race.
-knock a tape recorder from a reporter's hands, and then kick it away as the
reporter reaches for it.
-have to be physically restrained from assualting a top Nascar official(Gary
Nelson).  Brilliant career move ace.

For starters<G>  One other thing I always get a kick out of is Nascar's
heavy handed pr repair after he's in trouble.  EVERY time, the next weekend,
they throw his mug in front of the camera as a race commentator for the
Busch race.

Just my .02 of course :)

Because he acts like an ass.  Just the type of person I like to confront
in RL.  :-)

citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a
double-edged sword. It both emboldens the ***, just as it narrows the
mind.  And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the
*** boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no
need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry,
infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their
rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I
have done. And I am Caesar."   -- Julius Caesar

Ooh, I don't like that opinion.  I ran a race online at Daytona.  Everyone else
qualified at 187 or above - I was at 181.  Also, I used to purposely drive slow
qual laps to ensure I'd be at the back of the grid.  It would keep me out of
all the crashing on the start...

Hi Eldred,

of course no offence was meant to anyone, but unfortunately this is one
possible criterion how to recognize a wrecker.

But please note that I explicitely said this is _one_ of the circumstances
which _can_ indicate a wrecker. It not necessarily does.

I wish I had a dollar every time this has happened to me lately.  It's
hard to say if stuff like this is intentional or not, some people
really don't seem to have a clue.

Where are all the ranked servers for NR2002?  I could usually find a
3-10 race in N4, which tended to eliminate "most" of the BS.  So far I
have raced in exactly one SW race that was ranked above 0-10.  You
don't even see ranked SS races very often.

> - try driving on road circuits or the more difficult-to-drive ovals. Easier

Last time I tried racing N2002 on Sierra, there were 2 servers set up
for Watkins Glen, 1 of them with 0 drivers in setup mode, 1 server set
up for Sears Point with a password, and 1 server set up for Pocono
with 2 other drivers who quit before qualifying (I joined hoping to
get at least some decent racing in).

On the other hand, there were at least 30-40 Daytona/Talladega/Coca
Cola servers.  There were 14 papy servers set up, 11 at
superspeedways, 1 at Bristol-Night, 1 at Watkins Glen (albeit with 32
cars and in race mode) which quickly changed to a superspeedway race
after it ended, and 1 at Phoenix with 2 drivers entered.  None of the
servers ranked.

I wish the Papy loops, at the very least, would use the same format
they did in N4 at the beginning of this year.  There was a good chance
that within 10-15 minutes of logging in I could find a decent race.
Rated servers would be nice as well, since you can import your N4
stats.

Ok, some real numbers from just now:

31 plate races
3 Coca Cola races
1 Pocono race
1 Sears Pt race
0 Chicago races

Woowee break out the funjuice.  Thank god for leagues.

Totally agree, especially about having some rated servers.  There's no
point moving my stats until some higher-ratings servers show up.

Hi Jason,

Papy has gone for the option to allow boss mode. If you're lucky and find a
Papy server with 0 drivers logged on, you've got a good chance of becoming
the boss of that server. And then you can select any track you like.

This is btw true for more than just the Papy servers on Sierra in N2002,
although still for less servers than I'd like to see. Several of those
showing 'Setup' for an extended period of time will make you the boss when
you log on, which gives you the power to select a track and start the event.

In general I also agree with you about the ratio of more challenging ovals
to SS or even Coca Cola (argh ;-) is not what I would like it to be. OTOH,
it's not as bad as you describe it. You can frequently find an RC or a
decent oval race, just sometimes you're waiting in vain between.

Although admittedly, since I'm from Europe, I'm on Sierra at times when the
community should be a little more international. I can imagine that for the
serious or less serious American Nascar fans, the big ovals and SS like
Daytona or Talladega are the peak of Nascar racing, just like for Europeans
the Nurburgring or Imola are the 'classic' tracks, so at times when the
visitors to Sierra come mostly from the Americas, maybe the ratio differs
from what I tend to see.

I'd like to add that whenever I see a Martinsville race with 25 or more
drivers in it on the Papy servers, I don't join that either. Or Darlington
with 20+ drivers - those races usually end in carnage without any bad
intentions on the drivers' part :-)

All in all, Sierra is a good fun place for the average player. A serious
racer (or maybe even a serious road circuit racer) though will not find good
races easily. But Sierra wasn't made for that. It's an online facility for
the buyer cross section of N4 and N2002. If we go there, we have to accept
the right of everyone else to use that service and try to enjoy the sim
there the way he wants to enjoy it - seriously, casually, proficiently, less
proficiently... ;-)

I know that, but if people are looking that closely, any mistake I make could
be suspect.  That's all I need is to spin out, and have someone say "See?  I
*thought* he was a wrecker"...
