RASF1 this week?

Just so you know, I doubt that guy was running on a keyboard, or he had set
it up so it wasn't working like a keyboard. I looked at a replay of his and
it was a LOT smoother then a keyboard can produce.

I probably won't be running either. People were lagging all over the place,
and this affected my frame rates too. At the start I couldn't get into first
so I let off launch control...bad move, I moved forward a bit and had to pit
to stop and go. This didn't really take and I was in six. Then I came out of
turn 5 and hit you a couple times...next lap I had another one of the BS
understeers that running online gives me, went wide on the exit of turn 5
and spun out. I decided to quit after that.

Hi Eldred:

Nobody can blame you.  I've spent the morning chatting
with RC and Mike P. at F1RST, about setting up the registry
and one F1RST window that won't display right.  Nice folks,
but not what I had planned for Sunday morning.

I ran their registry fix, and now have only a minor
problem on one F1RST's window.  But I couldn't not have
raced you folks today, because I couldn't select a profile.

I can host 5 cars reasonably well on my old 600MHz dog.
So I think someone with 5 times the compute horsepower and
a good cable connection will be able to handle the small
turnouts.  But there was something nice about that fast
connection.

I hope you will participate on F1RST.  I didn't get
enough practice for Spain, about 40 laps.  I was trying
a Renault, to add some color to the field, and my best
was a 1:31, lapping several seconds slower.  I have zero
audible feedback from the tires as they approach their
limit, so I'm not able to push hard in the turns.  Still
waiting for a copy of the GTR 2002 tire sound file.  I'm

If I have someone to race against I'll be there, but
I don't have to tell you it's no fun racing by yourself,
with only drivers 10 seconds faster lapping you for
company.  So I hope you continue to participate.

Yea, you can't do donuts with TC on.  There is a
traction control override that you can assign to a
button.

I hope you show up.  I'll try to make it next time.

I can have a lot of fun just racing multiplayer on
F1C's Gamespy.  But it is nice to race against you
folks on a nice server with a good connection.

Great racing you today Uwe! :-)

That was really a fun and intense race. Our Q times (1:20) were almost
identical (you beat me), and then the race was extremely close for quite a
few laps. A few seconds separated us before my pit stop. I pitted a lap
before you (actually missed the pit entry a lap earlier and was scared I'd
run out of gas), but on my out lap (your in lap), I got sideways (a little
proud to say that was my only misstep of the race) at La Caixa on the cold
tires. As I headed down the front straight, I saw you exiting the pits just
ahead of me and said a few curse words to myself. :-)

I went from 3 seconds up to 1 down. We were less than a second apart for a
number of laps after that. Great stuff. At one point, you had a little
understeer coming out of the last turn, and I pulled right up to your wing
and into your draft. Waited as long as I could and then pulled out along
side you for the pass. Held my breath,  :-) and then braked hard for T1. Our
wheels were *very* close in the replay, :-o but we made it through clean. We
then had quite a few laps where we were again less than a second apart,
until the last lap or so when you dropped back.

Reminded of me of some races I've had with Neil in F1C. Lap after lap, less

that replay for awhile.

Thanks for the great race!

Shit - I never even made the TC connection.  Gawd, that makes it worse because
it was avoidable...

I uploaded it here. http://home.comcast.net/~davegf/  4.8 megs.

First half of the race is basically Uwe steadily chipping away at my lead,
but the really close racing begins at the 1100 second mark, shortly before
we begin to pit.

From that point on, F1C manages to superbly recreate (both for the drivers
and a spectator of the replay) what I saw in the real Spanish F1 GP this
morning.
