Well after asking a million people the same questions and getting the same
answers i broke down and bought NR99 (mostly to convert tracks to GPL but...ya
know).  I do have to say the graphics are better than N2 and i love the
trucks!!!!  I found out that Papys Craftsman Super Trucks is actually a
seperate game not an add-on for N2, but for 10 more bucks N99 was worth it
(finding the BGN Expansion for N2 is impossible now).  And i finally can
totally appreciate Papys track design after taking a few laps at Flemington
(only track i have real life experiance at).  WOW!!! They really captured the
continuous left hand turn feeling to it.

I also picked up SODA Off-Road since it was only $10 in Wal-Mart (N99 was $30).
All i can say is FUN in a big way!!!  I know its no GPL, but i love the
"slideways" racing you can do.  I already have a slew of ovals i designed to
represent (rather poorly) some real life ones.  Anyone who is looking for some
great fun in a sim and dont want to invest hours learning something new...this
is it.  I picked up how to drive the buggy in about 30mins and the 4x4 Truck
after about 2 hrs.  The tracks arent real...but with the easy to understand
track editor you could re-create some of the real life SODA/SCORE tracks.

Cheers,
Chris

I just picked up soda too!  I got it for 5 buck bundled with N1 at CompUSA.
Best 5 dollar purchase I have made in a long time. Granted the graphics
won't win any awards, but it is blast to run.  I was hoping that someone had
gotten into the game, like they did with N2 and GPL, and give you some
better engine sounds and stuff like that. But, have yet to find any. And I
don't have time to do stuff like that!

I was just the opposite.  I picked up the 4X4 better then the buggy..  I
haven't even tried all of the tracks yet and I am already downloading track
of the net!.
